Past

From when I can remember I have been doing creative things like drawing and painting. I can remember times when I did creative assignments for friends because I liked doing them so much. When I was around the age I started to develop some inspiration from street art and since then I was spending my Friday afternoons in the art classroom working on my own little projects. I really liked drawing but I started growing more interest in more of the technical subjects at school. There was one design assignment that I really liked in which we had to create a measuring device. We ended up designing a device with which you could measure the heat transfer through different materials. I really liked that the aspect of building a prototype, then picking out the flaws and then making a new improved prototype. The cycle of designing was something to which I was really attracted to. During my last year of high school I followed a sewing workshop from which I develop and interest for recycling old garments into new ones. I also started to experiment with spatial art and different materials. For my final school research project I researched how energy efficient a battery that stores energy through the use of gravity is. I built a smaller scale prototype to test the efficiency with different masses and rope lengths to which the masses were attached to. I think that this has shaped me into the creative and practical designer.
